Hi, my name is Michael Truman. When my mother had to start a low protein diet a few years ago, I was surprised by how little information was available on the protein values of many common foods. Her doctor had provided her with a list of several dozen food items, and in searching the internet I was able to find a few hundred more. After that, there didn't seem to be much readily available useful information.
Eventually however I found the USDA Food and Nutrient Database and used it to assemble a protein dictionary containing the amounts of protein in over 20,000 different food items. To make it easier to keep track of all this information I also created the ProteinTracker software program. I'm making this information freely available to you in the hope that it may be useful if you find yourself needing to go on a low protein diet.
Please feel free to contact me via email with any questions or comments.
