Low Protein Foods

The foods lowest in protein include many raw fruits and vegetables, followed by some types of cooked vegetables.   A number of breads and other foods made of grain are also low in protein.

Raw fruits and vegetables low in protein include papaya, blackberries, tomatoes, cucumber, plantains, lettuce, cauliflower, and broccoli.   There are also fruit and vegetable juices such as orange juice and carrot juice. And also dried fruits such as prunes.

For cooked vegetables look at parsnips, sweet potatoes, green beans, chinese cabbage, mushrooms, cauliflower, pumpkin, bamboo shoots, kale, mung beans, potatoes, and sweet corn.   Vegetable or mushroom soup and sauerkraut are also low in protein.

Many types of bread are low in protein, such as wheat, rye, oatmeal, or pita bread. Also raisin bread, banana bread, and wheat bran muffins.   Some breakfast foods such as instant oatmeal, corn flakes, or frozen waffles are also low in protein.   And for dessert, there are yellow and chocolate cakes or fruit based pies.

Snack foods low in protein include potato chips, tortilla chips, and popcorn.
